Lynn Michele Hickey

Lynn Michele (Harley) Hickey, age 53, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 surrounded by her beloved family.   Lynn was born in Jackson, New Jersey on October 16, 1970 to Tom Harley and Gail (King) Harley.  The Harley family moved to Arizona in 1977 where Lynn spent most of her abundant life.  Lynn devoted over 20 years to educating elementary school children.   Her passion for reading and learning was evident and she will be remembered as someone with a lasting influence on her community.

Lynn met her husband, Tim, in 1996 at her best friend, Leah’s wedding. They had their first dance to “Can't Help Falling in Love” by Elvis, which was fitting, because the two of them quickly fell deeply in love and remained dance partners ever since.  Lynn and Tim raised two amazing daughters alongside Lynn’s siblings and their families.  She loved their life in Mesa and Litchfield Park, AZ and will be missed by many former neighbors and colleagues.

After moving to Michigan with Tim in 2021, Lynn quickly fostered many meaningful friendships in Plymouth. She spoke with her family often about her new love for the seasons, outdoor activities, and vegetation of the Midwest. Tim and Lynn took many road trips in their camper to discover uncharted territory together. Her appreciation of the open road and exploration of nature extended into her many hobbies. She loved to create beautiful drawings, sketches, watercolor paintings, mosaics, and quilts. She often drew inspiration from flowers and animals around her.  Lynn had the unique ability to express herself through creating these beautiful gifts that will forever be cherished.  The simple pleasures in life were always acknowledged and appreciated by her.  It has been clear that she was motivated by a strong desire to create and give to others.

Lynn was preceded in death by her father, Tom Harley, and father-in-law, Bob Hickey.  Lynn is survived by her husband, Tim Hickey, two daughters, Sarah Harley (Blaine Basset) and Katherine Hickey, mother Gail Harley and siblings Tom, Christine and Kelly.  Lynn had a deep sense of pride in her family.  She was an exceptional wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and daughter.  Any party Lynn was invited to quickly became a proper celebration filled with laughter, some cold Guinness, and of course, dancing.  She was the light in a dark room, a true Irish rose, and our eternal dancing queen.  Our lives will never be the same.

Lynn’s life will be celebrated Saturday April 13th,  from 1:00 P.M. until 3:30 P.M. at Schrader-Howell funeral home in Plymouth, MI with a reception at The Post nearby to follow.  We hope to share many beloved stories of her beautiful life with you then.

If you wish to contribute, a donation to Gift of Life in Lynn’s honor would be appreciated.  Lynn was a true hero and has continued to impact lives post mortem through organ donation.

Thank you all for your condolences and support during this difficult time.
