Luisa Juan Gatmaitan, age 86 of Plymouth, Michigan, passed away on July 16, 2024. She was born on August 19, 1937 in Talavera, Philippines to her parents, the late Aurelia (née DeJesus) and Andres Juan.
Luisa received her Medical Degree at the University of Santo Tomas and became an Anesthesiologist. For many years, she was employed at Sinai Grace Hospital in Detroit.
Luisa touched many lives with her thoughtfulness and generosity. She loved spending time with family and friends, traveling the world, and playing classical tunes on her baby grand piano.
She became a “local celebrity” at her assisted living community as the residents would flock to the piano to listen to her play. They would say, “We love Lucy . . . her playing is so good!”
Luisa is the beloved and devoted wife of the late Miguel; loving mother of Michelle Gatmaitan and Michael (Lori) Gatmaitan. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren Dane and Leila.
She is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her siblings Igmedio (Finna) Juan, Trinidad Dulay and Araceli (Eddie) Perez. She is predeceased by her siblings Diosdado Juan and Carmelita Mollna.
To her family, friends and all who knew and loved Luisa, she will be forever remembered and deeply missed.
A Celebration of Life Dinner will be held in Lucy’s honor at Fuji Japanese Buffet, 32153 John R Road, Madison Heights, Michigan 48071 on Thursday, August 1, 2024 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
