Lincoln M. Lightbody

September 18, 1938 — January 23, 2014

Lincoln Lightbody passed away at the Plymouth Inn on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at the age of 75. Lincoln was born in Detroit, the son of Lincoln B. and Judith E. (Strandberg) Lightbody. He finished his education in the Detroit area and then served his country as a Military Policeman from 1961 - 1963. His unit was sent to Mississippi during the height of the civil rights movement to serve guard duty at the dorm of James Meredith. After his term of service, he worked various jobs culminating with over 25 years at Michigan Bell. Lincoln had many interests including reading mystery books, listening to a wide range of musical genres, doing crossword puzzles and after his retirement becoming the cook of the family. He was a terrific athlete with golf, hockey and baseball being his favorites. When he was in the service he played on his Army Unit’s baseball team. Lincoln was full of good humor and great at telling a joke. In 1974, he married Nancy J. Foster who survives him. Also surviving are his son Michael and his wife Kristan, brother Richard and his wife Mary, and a niece Elizabeth. A Memorial Gathering will be held from 2PM until 9PM on Friday January 24th at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home (280 South Main Street, Plymouth, MI). A Memorial Service will also be held there on Saturday at 11AM.
