Leo N. VonSoosten, age 89, passed away on December 13, 2015. He was born on May 26, 1926, to his parents, Nicholas and May (Distelrath) VonSoosten. Leo served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. When he returned home, he co-owned and operated Von's Bakery for several years with his mother. Leo worked for Ford Motor Company for 35 years, initially at the Proving Grounds, and ultimately in Products Litigation. His love of photography led Leo and his beloved wife of 64 years, Jean, on travels around the world. Leo is survived by his daughters, Judy Sherman, and Joan (Mark) Erickson. He was the very proud grandfather of Jason (Mandi) Sherman; Abbie (Jonathan) Kidder; and Nicholas (Caroline) Erickson; and great-grandfather to Lindsay, Paige and Finn Kidder, and Oskar and Benjamin Erickson. Preceding Leo in death was his wife, Jean. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 17th at 11am at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth and will be officiated by Pastor Drex Morton. Leo will be laid to rest at Rural Hill Cemetery in Northville.Friends may visit on Wednesday, December 16th from 3pm to 9pm.
