Lee Etta Wilkinson

March 9, 1942 — February 25, 2013

Passed away at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Superior Township on February 25, 2013 with her family beside her, age 70. Lee was born in Bellevue, Ohio on March 9, 1942 the daughter of R. Hollis and Henrietta ( Chambers ) Matherly. She reside in Bellevue and graduated from high school there. She received her B.A. degree from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. In 1964 she married Charles Wilkinson and moved to Michigan. Lee was active in many fields including being a docent at the Matthaei Botanical Gardens of the University of Michigan and also as an assistant with the Grants Office of the university. She enjoyed helping in the Plymouth-Canton School system with " English as a Second Language" groups and with adult literacy. Lee was also active in various positions with her church, Newburg United Methodist Church, including youth ministry, helping the homeless and as a Steven's Minister. She is survived by her husband Charles and children Adam Lee ( Michelle Prebula ) Wilkinson and Fred ( Liz ) Wilkinson. Her sister Mary Windsor and brother-in-laws Fred and Richard Wilkinson and their wives also survive. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at 4 pm at Newburg United Methodist Church, 36500 Ann Arbor Trail, Livonia. Family will meet with friends beginning at 3 pm. Contributions are suggested to the church.
