Leda Eleanor Booth, age 92 of Plymouth, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2019.
Leda was born on October 25, 1927 in Charles, Michigan to her parents Edward and Grace Marie (nee Bomb) Nichols. She is the beloved wife of the late Clare Booth who passed away in 1982. She is the devoted mother of five children – Connie McGee, Carol A. (the late Charles W.) Hinote, Linda (Tom) West, Roberta (Mike) Gaird and Randy Sheets; sister to Vivian Thomas, Gilbert Nichols and Maxine Perry; proud grandmother of 14, great-grandmother of 28 and great-great-grandmother of 8. She is pre-deceased by 3 great-grandchildren.
Leda worked as a Machine Operator for 28 years for Great Lakes Plastic in Salem, Michigan. In her retirement years, she had more time for her hobbies - knitting and crocheting. Both of these activities were some of Leda’s favorite pastimes. Those who knit and crochet love color, winding yarn, and most of all, will share their skill and teach anyone who wants to learn.
Leda liked clowns….clowns in the circus, at the fairs, on television - wherever she saw them. Was it their brightly colored costumes or the painted expressions on their faces that gave her such delight? Perhaps it was merely the honest and unselfish generous gift of laughter that a clown freely gives to his audience that delighted her most.
Being a mother and a grandmother and a great-grandmother and then a great-great grandmother too provided the greatest joy to Leda. Family was the most important gift in life. She has felt truly blessed each time she cradled a new baby born to the family. She loved the experience of watching her family continue to grow and grow. And, by her own example, she witnessed her children becoming parents, grandparents and even great-grandparents too.
