Passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2011 at Crystal Creek Manor in Canton at the age of 84. Ken was born in Glensfork, Kentucky on April 7, 1927 the son of Carl and Florence (Erridge) Taylor. He grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan where he attended school but spent summers with his grandparents in Kentucky. Later in his life he graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a B.A. degree. He served in the United States Navy after the completion of World War II helping aboard ship to bring our soldiers back to the States. In 1950 he joined the ranks of the Michigan State Police and served until his retirement in 1977. He was a detective when he retired. Ken had many hobbies and interests including woodworking, baking and going to Greenfield Village. He loved to read and the local libraries were some of his favorite stomping grounds. Ken was also quite active in his church, Newburg United Methodist, where he was Head Usher and also helped in finance committees. As his daughter stated, " he was a good Dad. " He lost his wife Elizabeth just this past August. He is survived by his children, Rebecca Taylor, Kelly (Doug) Konarske and Linda (Mark Donnellon) Taylor. Also surviving our his grandchildren, Erin (Tim) Strand, Kendra (Scott) Lytle and Casey Robinson, great grandson Gavin Strand and brother Russell (Pat) Taylor. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 11am from Newburg United Methodist Church, 36500 Ann Arbor Trail, Livonia. Contributions are suggested to the church's Appalachian Service Project.
