Kathleen Marie McFry, age 60 of Canton, passed away at home, surrounded by loved ones, on June 10, 2018 after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Hammond, Indiana on February 4, 1958 to her parents, Herbert and Beverly (nee Bogdan) Geiselman.
She is the beloved and devoted wife of Ronald McFry; loving mother of Amanda Rasnake, step-daughter, Heidi (Steed) Smith and step-son, Marc (Virginia) McFry; proud grandmother of Jalen Miller, step-grandchildren, Nicholas (Daysha) Smith, Earl Smith and Denise “Malaysia” McFry. She is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her mother, Beverly and her three brothers, Glen (Pam) Geiselman, Richard (Suzy) Geiselman and Gregory (Rachel) Geiselman. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends. She will surely be missed by her therapy dog, “Bo”. She was preceded in death by her Father, Herbert Geiselman, her beloved Aunts Veronica Rigg and Betty Chmielowiec and her dearest friend, Patricia “Pat” Whitler.
She grew up in Portage, Indiana where she attended grade and high school. She was a graduate of Purdue University. She moved from Indiana in 1988 and settled in Ann Arbor, Michigan where she was employed for 25 years by the University of Michigan Hospitals and Health System as an Information Technology Manager. In 1994, she moved to Canton, Michigan where she started “Bark for Life” of Canton. To date, the “Bark for Life” of Canton team has raised over $25,000 for the American Cancer Society. In her spare time, she enjoyed visiting hospitals and schools with her therapy dog, “Bo”, cooking, reading, golfing, traveling and watching her grandson, Jalen, play hockey.
Family and Friends may visit the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth on Friday, June 15th from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M for a Memorial Gathering. A Memorial Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday, June 16th beginning at 11:00 A.M.
