Kathleen I. Avallone

March 16, 1946 — July 26, 2014

Kathleen I. Avallone passed away July 26, 2014 at the age of 68. She was born March 16, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan to Rudolph and Carol (Osborn) Wantin. She is survived by her beloved husband, John and her daughter, Lisa (David) Mollard. She is also survived by John’s daughters, Kirsten Avallone, Deborah (Jeff) Bubeck and Kimberly (Jim) Wixson, her grandchildren, Gavin & Caden Mollard, Drake Avallone, John & Julian Bubeck, & Alicia Wixson, her brother Roger (Linda) Wantin & sister, Gail Deman. Kathleen graduated from Henry Ford High School in Dearborn, received her B.A. from Eastern Michigan University and her Master’s Degree from Wayne State University. She taught at Wildwood Elementary School in Westland for 25 years and spent 7 years as a counselor at John Glen High School in Westland. She loved gardening, decorating, jazzercise with her girlfriends, attending local stage performances and the Penn Theatre. Kathleen loved to travel, but because she did not enjoy flying, preferred to drive to her destinations. John and Kathleen visited the south including Georgia and Florida, but Kathleen especially loved northern Michigan’s Lake Superior and the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, which they were fortunate to visit just a couple of months ago. Kathleen was loved by many and will be deeply missed. Memorial visitation will be held at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 S. Main Street, Plymouth on Saturday, August 9th from 12 noon until the time of the Memorial Service at 2 o’clock. Memorials may be made to Michigan Cancer Center, 4100 John R. St., Detroit, MI 48201
