Kathleen Byrne "Kay" Diggs

Kay passed away peacefully on April 11, 2023.  She was born to Daniel D. and Clare

(née Howard) Byrne on August 20, 1932 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.   She grew up on a farm in (Parnell) Grattan Township, Kent County, Michigan.

She is survived by Paul B. Diggs (Jill), grandchildren Jacquelin and Mitchel, and Matthew B. Diggs.

Kay graduated from Marywood Academy in Grand Rapids (1950).  She received her RN after graduating from Mercy School of Nursing, Mt. Carmel Unit (12954).  She received her BSN from Madonna College (1976) and MA from the University of Michigan (1978).

Her longest employment was teaching Allied Health in Livonia Public Schools and Henry Ford Community College.  After retirement, she volunteered for over 20 years with the AARP Foundation TaxWise Program in Plymouth, Northville, and Canton, Michigan.  She also volunteered with the Northwest Wayne County Chapter of MARSP.  While living in Fox Run Senior Living, she volunteered for various committees.

Interment will take place in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in (Parnell) Ada, Michigan.

Family and friends may gather for a Celebration of Life at One Under Craft Beer and Eats, 35790 Five Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan on Saturday, April 15, 2023 from 12:00 P.M. until 3:30 P.M.
