Kerstin Marianne (Johansson) Garber of Plymouth, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 22, 2022. Marianne is survived by her husband Jim, of 66 years. She is also survived by a son Ralph (Shari), a son James III (Tammy) a son Charles (Monica) and a sister Berit Northrup. She was the loving grandmother of 11 and the great-grandmother of 15. She was predeceased by a son Noble, a brother Olof (Betty), and a brother Carl (Karen).

Marianne was born in Eskilstuna, Sweden on January 23, 1935 the daughter of Edvard and Inga (Wastesson) Johansson. She lived in Eskilstuna until 1950 when her father's business interests required a move to Detroit. Marianne graduated from Ligget School in 1953 and enrolled in Albion College that fall where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. It was at Albion that she met her husband, Jim. They were married on June 15, 1956

After raising her sons, Marianne became employed by Avon Products as a District Sales Manager. In that role she was responsible for the hiring, training and supervision of more than 275 Avon representatives. After retiring from Avon in April of 1995, Marianne accepted an invitation from the Rev. Dr. John L. Heins, the President of the Michigan District of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, to join him as a Special Assistant, a position she held for three years.

Marianne was active in the community. As a young woman she was president of the Plymouth Jaycettes. Later she was a member of the Plymouth Township Civil Service Commission and also the Board of Directors of the First of America Bank and the National City Bank.

A longtime member of Historic Trinity Lutheran Church, Marianne served on several of its committees and boards including the Vestry, its governing body. She also was active in missionary work in such diverse locations as Latvia and the inner-city of Detroit. Marianne's service did not go unnoticed as she received her church's Woman of the Year Award in 1998.

Visitation Monday, December 26th from 4:00pm-8:00pm at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home 280 South Main Main St, Plymouth. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 27th at 10:00am at the funeral home.
