Later Julia worked over 20 years as a "Lunch Lady" with the Southfield Public Schools. However, she was much more than just a lunch lady. She was a chef and a cashier, at times being the only one that knew how the cash register worked. During this time she served meals to many many children. Her interests were many and varied including being an avid bowler, golfer, gardener and seamstress. She also loved to read and play cards. She volunteered at the food pantry, associated with St. Vincent dePaul Society, at St. Alexander Church in Farmington Hills. Most of all she loved her family. Julia was a great cook and baker, with some of her specialties being bread, cookies and especially her doughnuts.
