Joyce M. Merchant

Joyce M. Merchant, 83, passed away peacefully at her home in Canton Michigan on December 25, 2018 Joyce was born in Commerce Michigan and grew up in Walled Lake.
She was a 1953 graduate of Walled Lake high school. She was preceded in death by father Charles Tompkins Parks, mother Anna (Hays) Parks, sisters Jean and Shirley and brother Charles.

She is survived by her loving children George Merchant his wife Robin, Julie Merchant, Michelle Brooks and her husband Randy. Joyce is also survived by 9 cherished grandchildren George, Rachel, Garrett, Steven, Shanna, Trevor, Krystal, Sterling and Tiffany. She leaves behind 12 precious great grandchildren Hanna, James, Steven, Emery, Gabriel, Max, Vivian, Dylan, Brodie, Eva, Hudson and Sadie.
Joyce will be remembered as a caring and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Joyce was very generous with her family and friends. She enjoyed going out to dinner. She was quick witted and had an incredible sense of humor. She took her role as homemaker and mother to heart. Joyce effortlessly hosted dinner parties at her home in Plymouth that brought friends and family together around a beautifully set table with wonderful food. Cocktail hour and dinner were filled with her incredible laughter. Joyce was deeply loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

Schrader funeral home in Plymouth will do the cremation. Joyce’s wish was that there would be no funeral service or visitation. The family will have a private memorial. The family asks for privacy and understanding from friends, relatives and well wishers.
