Joyce Evelyn Hogg

Joyce Evelyn Hogg, age 88, of Salem Township, passed away on January 25, 2012. She was born January 29, 1923, in Friedenstahl, St. Croix, Virgin Islands, to The Reverend William Allen and Joyce Oehler Allen. She is the loving wife of 69 years to William Finlay Hogg, Sr. Beloved mother of Joyce Diane (James) Grace, William Finlay (Nancy) Hogg Jr., John Earle Hogg and David Richard (Judy) Hogg. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 4 great granddaughters. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Marie Lancaster, and her brothers, Theodore Allen and Reginald Allen.

Evelyn was a devoted wife and mother who loved antiquing, reading, gardening and her many pets. She will be remembered for her years as a Sunday school teacher of four-year-olds at Calvary Baptist Church, in Canton, where she also enjoyed her fellowship with the Jet Set senior group.

Friends may visit at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main St., Plymouth, on Monday, January 30, 2012, beginning at 10am until the time of the funeral service at 1pm. Pastor John Shinn of Calvary Baptist Church will officiate. Interment services will be held at Glen Eden Cemetery in Livonia, immediately following. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church, 43065 Joy Rd, Canton, MI 48187.
