Passed away at St. Mary Mercy Hospital in Livonia on December 21, 2010 at the age of 85. Joseph was born in the Calumet area of the Upper Peninsula the son of George and Anna (Poshak) Cencich on November 23, 1925. He graduated from Calumet High School and in the mid 1940's made his home in the Detroit area. He also attended classes at Michigan Technical Institute and Lawrence Technical studying electrical engineering. He worked for Detroit Diesel of General Motors retiring after 36 years of faithful service in 1987. He was a member of St. Kenneth Catholic Church of Plymouth and loved to golf. He married Margaret, the love of his life in 1949 and together they shared 57 years of married life. Margaret predeceased Joe in 2006. He is survived by his children, Colleen (Timothy) Quinn and Steven Cencich. A grandson Carson also survives along with nieces and nephews Lori Ann (Kevin) Curie, Mary (John) McHale and Michael (Ann) Sustarich. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 26, 2010 from 1pm until 6 pm at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth. Visitation will continue at St. Kenneth Catholic Church, 14951 Haggerty Road, 3 blocks south of Five Mile, Plymouth Township, Monday 10am, followed by Mass at 10:30am. Contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.
