Joseph Dexter Hutton, age 74 of Plymouth, passed away with his family at his bedside on August 14, 2019. Born in Detroit on March 19, 1945 to William & Ethel Hutton. Married the love of his life Joan (Sheehan) on October 30, 1965 and together were blessed with three beautiful daughters: Julie (Donald) MacRae, Jennifer (Mark) Coykendall and Jill (Kevin) Hannigan. Proud Papa of Trevor Coykendall, Kathryn MacRae, Joseph MacRae, Riley Hannigan, Avery Coykendall and Shea Hannigan.
Joseph went to work at the age of 19 becoming a carpenter in the building trades. Joseph built his family cottage on Hubbard Lake with his own two hands and today it is still a place for his children and grandchildren to vacation. Retiring from the building trades at the age of 50, Joseph went to work at Franklin High School in Livonia where he became a building control officer. Working at Franklin High School for over 10 years, gave Joseph the opportunity to meet and work with hundreds of teenagers and teachers. Joseph embodied the role of a family man and his greatest joy in life was being the best husband, father and grandfather that he could be. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 18th from 2:00pm-9:00pm at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home 280 South Main St, Plymouth. Funeral service to follow on Monday, August 19th at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Private graveside service will conclude at Riverside Cemetery.
In lieu flowers , memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to Angela Hospice Care Center.
