Joseph A. Urban

Passed away on November 30, 2013 at the age of 97. Joe was born in Cleveland, Ohio the son of Joseph A. and Clara ( Czurlanis ) Urban. He served with the United States Army from 1941 thru 1945 with the rank of Staff Sergeant, mostly stationed along the West Coast assigned to the Military Police. After his service time he went to work as a Professional Engineer with the Detroit Water Department for almost 30 years. After his retirement he went to work for the Detroit Municipal Employee's Credit Union as its General Manager. Joe was a long time resident of the Plymouth area and was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. In his spare time he enjoyed reading and traveling to many distant places, including Alaska, Hawaii and Europe. Another great interest was that of investments. In 2004 he lost his beloved wife Mary. He is survived by his daughter Laura ( Bert ) Hagendoorn and grandson James J. Wise. A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 47650 North Territorial Road ( at Beck Road ) on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at 10:30 am. Contributions are suggested to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital.
