Johnnie W. Johnson, II

June 28, 1976 — August 8, 2021

Johnnie W. Johnson, II age 45 of Plymouth passed away on August 8, 2021.

Johnnie was born on June 28, 1976 in Livonia, Michigan to his parents, Johnnie W. and Antonietta (née Borrello) Johnson. He is the dear brother of Jennifer (Andrew) Valentine and proud uncle of Grant Valentine and Harper Valentine. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his girlfriend, Laura Downey and her children, Irish, Colden and McKaylah as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

Johnnie was a great friend to all. He knew how to show love and make anyone he encountered feel special. His bond with many was strong and long lasting. Johnnie had friends in all generations and walks of life. Johnnie easily bonded with people on many topics; music, sports, art, true crime mysteries, or some obscure cartoon comedy he insisted that you should check out. Johnnie laughed easily and found humor in almost everything. His wit was quick and clever.

Johnnie was artistic and a talented self-taught musician. He was happiest when there was a show he was preparing for on the horizon. A lot of friends and family have a CD he burned just for them to share his favorite music.

Detroit sports were Johnnie’s favorite he was a huge fan. In the winter you rarely saw him without a Lions or Pistons sweatshirt or Red Wings jersey. Summer attire was always a black band t-shirt or a Detroit Tigers t-shirt. His sports hat collection was impressive as he was a collector of many different things.

Spending time with family was a priority for Johnnie. He never missed a family dinner or birthday celebration. He loved going to concerts with his brother-in-law Andy. He frequently attended his nephew Grant’s little league games and loved walking his niece Harper into Downtown Plymouth for their Starbuck’s dates. Johnnie loved teaching his little buddy Irish how to throw and hit a ball and enjoyed playing music with Colden.

Animals were cherished by Johnnie and they all loved him too.

Gift giving was something Johnnie took seriously. He was so thoughtful in the time and consideration he took to find the perfect gift for anyone special to him. In his final day, Johnnie’s family knows that his generous donations to Gift of Life will impact someone or many in a very positive way.
