John Robert Denton, May 29, 1992- December 18, 2013. John was the cherished son of Rosemarie Zwiller Denton and Robert Denton. He was a 2010 graduate of Catholic Central where he excelled in many extra-curricular activities. John served on student council and was a gifted writer. He was a three-sport athlete, participating in football, swimming and lacrosse. He also coached youth lacrosse and was a lifeguard. John was an accomplished musician, playing trombone, piano and guitar. He played with the DSO youth orchestra and jazz band and also with Catholic Central’s varsity band. After graduating from Catholic Central, John studied philosophy at Michigan State University. John is survived by his loving parents and also leaves behind his sister Grace Denton, with whom he had a special friendship, his brothers Robert and Anthony Denton, and his nephew Bryce who was his godson and whom he dearly loved. He is survived by his grandmother Eleanor Law Zwiller. He is preceded in death by his grandparents John Zwiller, Eleanor Flanigan Denton, and Leslie Denton. Numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive. John had a gentle soul and a loving spirit. Visitation will be held at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth on Sunday from 1 pm until 9 pm. Visitation will continue on Monday at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 47650 North Territorial (at Beck Road) Plymouth from 10 am until time of the funeral Mass at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield. Contributions are suggested for Mass Cards or donations to the family.
