John L. Crete passed away January 14, 2014 at the age of 69. He was born April 20, 1944 in Elbeuf France to Leonce and Marcelle Crete. He is deeply loved and will be missed by his beloved wife Carole, his children Terri Lynn Crete and Robert Crete, grandchildren James Walkiewicz, Amanda Walkiewicz, David Crete and Brandon Crete and his great grandchild, Ava Gigger. John is also survived by his brother Pierre (Anita) Crete and brothers in law Ken (Joan) Garrett and Robert (Pat) Garrett, niece Rochelle Crete ,Karri & Kim Garrett and nephews Alfredo Crete, Jason Crete and Robert Garrett. John started his career with the Redford Township Police Department in 1967 and retired after 27 years, as a Detective in charge of the Criminal Division in 1994. Since then among other things, he worked for Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, Sun-Alliance Insurance Company as an investigator and recently, for the Village of Milford as an Ordinance Officer. John was preceded in death by his parents and many aunts and uncles. John was a generous, family man that will be dearly missed by those who knew him. Funeral services will be Friday, January 17, 2014, 11am at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 201 Elm St. Northville. Visitation will take place Thursday at Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 S. Main St., Plymouth, from 2pm until 9pm and Friday at church from 10am until time of service. Memorials in John’s name may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or the Huron Valley Humane Society.
