John Charles Lasko

November 26, 1920 — February 21, 2011

John C. Lasko passed away at his home on February 21, 2011 at the age of 90. He was born November 26, 1920 in Wayne Michigan to Valeria and Maria Lasko. In 1940 Mr. Lasko founded Republic Tool and Die in Belleville, MI. Republic grew to become the largest privately owned tool and die company in North America. Last year at the age of 89, Mr. Lasko retired and sold his company. He was the founder of the John C. Lasko Foundation which supported the building of many churches the world over. An avid outdoorsman, his passions included fishing,hunting, traveling and golfing. He especially loved to golf at Washtenaw Country Club where he was a member. Mr. Lasko also loved to fly and was the owner of his own amphibious airplane. In addition to his parents he was preceeded by his sister Mary Vigi and his brothers George and Charles.

Funeral services will take place Saturday, February 26, 2011, 11am at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 42682 Ecorse Rd., Belleville, MI 48111. Visitation will be held Friday from 4pm until 8pm at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 S. Main St., Plymouth. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Stroke Association www.strokeassociation.org or the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.
