Joan C. Kalish, age 59 of Livonia, passed away at the Angela Hospice Care Center with her children at her bedside on February 9, 2019. Born June 27, 1959 in Butler, Pennsylvania to the late Glenn & Patricia Rankin. Beloved mother of Miranda Kalish, Robert (Katie) Kalish and Thomas Kalish. Dear sister of Tim (Kathleen) Rankin, John (Anita) Rankin, Ron (Dana) Rankin, Dan (Mary Lou) Rankin, Glenn (Kim) Rankin and Steve (Michelle) Rankin.
Joan will be missed by all of her fellow teachers and students at Plymouth Salem High School where she taught Spanish for nearly 20 years. Joan was gifted with a beautiful voice. Throughout her life, she was able to sing in several church choirs. Joan opened her home to anyone who needed a place to stay or just needed someone to talk to. It’s safe to say that the choir of Angels has just been blessed with the beautiful voice of Joan Kalish.
The family will receive friends at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth on Sunday, February 17th from 1:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 18th at 11:00 A.M. at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1343 Penniman Avenue, Plymouth.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations. A "Go Fund Me" account has been created for this purpose under the title of Joan Kalish Family Fund.
