Jo Ellen Hincker

Jo Ellen Hincker, age 77 of Plymouth passed away on May 18, 2024.

She was born in Detroit on January 20, 1948 to her parents, Cecil (née Schmadeke) and Julius Getzfrid.

Jo Ellen is the beloved and devoted wife of 57 years to the late Douglas Hincker who passed away on December 29, 2022.  She is the loving mother of Scott Douglas (Keri) Hincker and Mark Hincker and proud grandmother of Samuel Douglas Hincker.  She is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her sister, Pat (Daryl) Albright.

She graduated from Redford High School, studied at Virginia Farrell Beauty School and Schoolcraft College and moved to the Plymouth community in 1967.

She was employed as a Receptionist at Plymouth Dental Associates and retired in May 2010 after 25 successful years of service.  Jo Ellen was highly active – she was always on the go and involved in a lot of community organizations and activities.  She was an active member of the JCI (Junior Chamber International) Senate – an organization that recognizes the outstanding achievement and service of JCI members worldwide.  She traveled extensively for JCI including the annual trips to Tennessee.

Besides the membership of the JCI, she was active in the community with other organizations including the Plymouth Lions Club of Michigan and organized their annual Easter Egg Hunt.

Jo Ellen loved the Plymouth community and frequented its many restaurants and business establishments.  She loved Thursday evenings at the Plymouth Elks Club for fun and meeting with friends for “burger night” and a glass of wine.  She loved to have fun with her family and friends. Anyone who knew her also knew she was amusing and often mischievous making her best known for her “wicked sense of humor.”

She was also known to be generous to a fault – she was giving and tenderhearted, and a person who would do anything for anybody.

Her family tells us that Jo Ellen was fiercely devoted to her family.  Family always came first.   She was a wonderful wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother who was always there when she was needed.  She would be there offering support, wisdom and love in abundance and would make a point to tell them that she loved and appreciated each of them as often as possible and always accompanied with a hug.  She will always remain in the hearts of her family.

Services for Jo Ellen will be announced at a later date.
