Jean Marie Wellman

Jean Marie Wellman, formerly known as Jean Marie Sousa “Jeanne” passed away peacefully on December 19, 2024, at the age of 74. Born on December 26, 1949, Jean was a well loved member of the Plymouth community who lived a life exemplified by kindness, simplicity and love for those around her.

A devoted daughter, sister, mother, and friend, Jean made a lasting impact on everyone she met. Her warm-hearted nature shone through in everything she did. Jean was a fabulous cook and loved feeding people. Loved conversations and laughter. Jean cherished her moments spent with her daughter Dina fostering a bond that was both nurturing and joyful. Jean loved her son-in-law William and her grand dogs. 

Jean found joy in tending to the garden with her sister Jo Ellen every year. Cultivating a beautiful garden, where she created a sanctuary alive with beautiful blooms, the flutter of butterflies, hummingbirds and the cheerful visits of cardinals. She enjoyed just sitting in her backyard in the summer taking in the beauty and enjoying a glass of wine. She looked forward to lunches and dinners with friends. Spending time with her two besties Edie and Noreen. Going places with them and shopping. Her love for nature mirrored her personality a simple, kind spirit whose warmth touched many. The memories of her kindness resonate within her community and will be held dearly in the hearts of those fortunate enough to call her a friend.

Jean is survived by her beloved daughter, Dina (William) Grindle, her sister, Jo Ellen Sousa, and her cherished dog, Pattycakes. Also by her many nieces, nephews, cousins and two very best friends. She is preceded in death by her sisters, Lou Ann Smith, Patricia Jones, and her parents, Walter and Eileen Sousa. Jean will be remembered fondly for her loving ways, and her legacy will continue through the many lives and friendships she enriched.
