Born in Saginaw, MI, in 1933, Jean (Logan) O’Hara attended St. Mary’s schools in Saginaw and graduated from Michigan State University with a BA in Economics in 1956. She married Pat O’Hara in 1957 and together they raised four children in North Rosedale Park, Detroit. Jean worked for Michigan Bell in labor relations, and was later a bookkeeper for St. Mary of Redford schools until her retirement.
An avid reader and learner her whole life, Jean traveled widely with her husband and later with friends throughout Europe and North America. She had a special fondness for Grand Traverse Bay in northern Michigan, as well.
In retirement, she was active as a school volunteer, church wedding coordinator, choir member, altar society member and Eucharistic minister. She taught her children the importance of being a good friend and cherished her lifelong friendships with classmates from Saginaw and MSU, the Knit Wits from Rosedale Park, and all of her Plymouth friends including her walking pals, the Street Walkers.
She will be forever loved and missed by her children Tim (Pilar), Ellen (Mark) Sabor, Tom, and Ann (Bob) Wagner, as well as her grandchildren Paul and Pilar O’Hara, Colin and Liam Sabor, and Jane, Sam and Molly Wagner. Also survived and loved by her sister Ann (Tom) Osberger and sister in law Carol (Paul) Schierl, a niece and five nephews.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, September 1st 10:30am at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church 47650 North Territorial Rd, Plymouth. Visitation will begin at 10:00am until time of funeral mass.
Friends may visit the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home 280 South Main St, Plymouth on Wednesday, August 31st from 3:00pm-9:00pm. A Rosary service will be held at 7:00pm.
Jean will be buried next to her beloved Pat at Riverside Cemetery in Plymouth.
