Jasubhai Jivanlal Patel PhD was a devoted husband to Kusum Patel for 64 years and together they raised 4 children, and had 5 grandchildren and soon to be 6 great-grandchildren.
Born in Borsad, Gujarat, India, his career as an educator took him from India, to Ghana with UNESCO, and then on to Detroit to study at Wayne State University where he would make lifelong friends.
After 26 years at the Willow Run Public School system and working with hundreds of students, he retired. During his lifetime he devoted himself to his family, friends, students and community. He loved music, photography, and most importantly his culture. It was this love that led to his involvement in the Festival of India and helped establish the Gujarati Samaj of Detroit and Hindu Temple of Canton. He will be greatly missed by a great number of people whose lives he touched.
