Janet R. Rose

Janet Rose, age 86 of Livonia, passed away peacefully at Angela Hospice Center on Sunday, April 23, 2023.  Janet was born in Detroit, MI to parents Harold Wagner and Bernette Wagner (née Pittner).

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Charles of 66 years, and her parents. She is survived by her children David (Cindy), Phillip (Jackie Steinaway), Nanette (Ken Richey), Michael (Nancy), Eric (Barb Kubik); her sister Judith (Bruce) Doeren; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and the fifth arriving soon; her dear friend Linda Glass; and trusted caregivers Sandy, Bev and Donna.

Janet was outgoing, fiercely independent and had the gift of gab. She was a talented artist and enjoyed painting, wood carving and floral design.  In high school, she designed and made jewelry and was featured in the local paper.  She had an entrepreneurial spirit and ran a floral design business from her home in Detroit when her children were young.  Her love for gardening was apparent by the abundance of home-grown vegetables she proudly served her family.  Her yard was filled with the most beautiful floral scents imaginable, and flowering trees and bushes adorned the landscape.  But her real passion was her “critters” that she fed and looked after including stray cats, squirrels, chipmunks, birds, ducks, deer and whatever else wandered into her yard.  There were many pet cats over the years as well with one (Stormy) remaining that now resides with family.  

It gives her family great peace knowing that she is once again with her one true love Charles.  May they continue to hold hands, “smooch”, and love one another for eternity.

Visitation and funeral services will be held May 1, 2023, from 9:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. at Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth, Michigan.  Burial will follow at the Rural Hill Cemetery in Northville, Michigan.
