Jane Marie Neu of Westland, MI passed away peacefully at Angela Hospice, surrounded by her loving family on May 30, 2017 at the age of 84. She was born in Buffalo, New York to Claude and Helena (nee Conley) Kratt on May 25, 1933. Jane is survived by her 4 children, Marie (Cliff) Lamberg, Susan (John) Jeno, Thomas Neu, and Michael (Alicia) Neu, her 12 grandchildren Timothy (Hayley), Joseph (Megan), Chelsea (Casey), Connor, Colleen, Mary, Elizabeth, Kathleen, Emily, Rachel, John, and Matthew, her 6 great grandchildren Alec, Eli, Mackenzie, Lucas, Nola, and Molly, and her 2 sisters Claudia and Carol. Jane was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Norbert Neu, and by both of her parents, now reunited in heaven.
She worked for years at University Nursing Home and after retiring, devoted over 3,850 hours as a volunteer at Angela Hospice. There, she drove 9,824 miles to 775 meetings, activities and events, which included fundraising, hospitality, and training. Throughout her lifetime, she was a constant presence at her children's, grandchildren's, and great-grandchildren’s sporting events, concerts, plays, and milestones. She enjoyed walking on the beach, flowers/gardening, and boating, was a Detroit Red Wings season ticket holder for decades,and she collected sea shells and paperweights. Time with her family, especially if it meant she’d be holding a baby, was her true joy. Jane brightened the lives of everyone she touched and her spirit will live on in the people blessed enough to learn and grow from her wisdom and care.
Visitation will begin Friday, June 9, from 2-8pm at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 S. Main St., Plymouth, with a Rosary Service at 7pm. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, June 10, at 10:30am at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 11441 Hubbard, Livonia, MI. Family and friends may begin visiting the Church at 10am.
