Jane Louise Hay

Jane Louise (née Stremich) Hay passed away on Monday, November 18, 2024 at the age of 91.

A fifth generation Plymouth resident, Jane’s parents Jacob and Margaret (née Streng) Stremich, founded the Hillside Inn, a popular eating and entertainment establishment that drew satisfied customers from Plymouth and the surrounding area for fifty years. She was proud of her parents’ accomplishments and those of her relatives, a group of hardy entrepreneurs who founded many of Plymouth’s most successful businesses.

A true Plymouth booster, Jane and her husband Don were heavily involved in civic activities throughout their marriage. She especially enjoyed entertaining their fellow Lions Club members and other beloved friends, neighbors and family at their cottage on Base Lake.

Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Hay. She is survived by her brother Tom, daughters Nancy (Jim Rudorffer), Donna (Paul Feldvebel) and Carol (Bill Sawyer), 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Jane had a rollicking sense of humor, enjoyed a good game of cards and, sampling the fare at Plymouth’s many fine restaurants. She loved crocheting and made fifty afghans per year for assisted living homes and various charities and also enjoyed watching television.
