James Elwood Royster, a dedicated engineer and cherished family man, passed away on September 21, 2024 in Northville, Michigan, at the age of 80. Born on September 5, 1944, in Toledo, Ohio, James lived a life marked by service, professional achievement, and deep familial love.
James will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Susan, and their two children, Dale Royster and Cathy (Michael) Woodard. He leaves behind three adoring grandchildren, Elsa, Evelyn, and Matthew Royster, who were a source of great pride and joy in his life. James is also lovingly remembered by his nephews, Bryant Royster and Jon Royster, Jr.
As an engineer in the power and lighting industries, James made significant contributions that touched many lives, showcasing his expertise and commitment through his work. He held a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, which laid the foundation for his successful career. In addition to his professional accomplishments, James proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, an experience that instilled in him a profound sense of duty and honor.
Beyond his career, James had a passion for Corvette cars, which brought him immense joy and became a beloved hobby. His enthusiasm for life extended to family gatherings where he could often be found sharing stories, laughter, and love with those closest to him.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 S. Main St, Plymouth, MI 48170, with a funeral service starting at 6:00 PM. James will be laid to rest on Monday, September 30, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park, 4210 Central Avenue, Toledo, Ohio,
James Elwood Royster’s legacy is one of love, service, and dedication. He will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege to know him.
