James " Lew " Fountain

February 5, 1934 — December 25, 2014

Passed away on Christmas Day at the age of 80. He was born in Pontiac and raised by his adoptive parents Russell and Irene Fountain in Hancock, Michigan. He attended Hancock schools and graduated from Hancock High School. He continued his education at Michigan Technical for two years. In 1954 he married Gayle Haken and they moved to the Lower Peninsula to the Detroit area where they shared a marriage of 48 years. Lew is preceded in death by his wife Gayle in 2002 and his son Jay in 2010 and his sister Donna Ledy in 2012. Lew enjoyed to hunt and fish along with reading and keeping up with the Detroit sport teams. For 38 years Lew was employed as a sheet metal foreman with Carron Industries in Inkster. He is survived by his sister Julie Ann Rucker and his significant other Rosemary Lyons. Lew is also survived by his son Scott and daughter in-law Shannon as well as his grandchildren Russell, LeeAnne and Donald. Lew is also survived by his great grandchildren Liberty, Aiden, Carmen, Jake and Levi. A Memorial Gathering will be held at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth on Friday, January 9, 2015 from 3 pm until the time of the Memorial Service at 5 pm which will be conducted by the Reverend Alan Hamlet. In lieu of flowers contributions are suggested to Hospice of Michigan.
