James Joseph Ryan

Passed away at Brighton Gardens in Northville on Sunday, July 28th at the age of 85. James was born in New York City on October 31, 1927 the son of William and Johanna ( Dwyer ) Ryan. A graduate of Fordham University, he had worked for General Motors both in New York and Detroit in the Overseas department. Jim retired in 1987. He is survived by his wife Regina ( Jeanie ) and his children James Ryan of New York City, Marianne ( Colin Swanson ) Ryan of New York City, William ( Mariel ) Ryan of Pennington, New Jersey and Dr. Rosemary ( Dr. Jack DeGrado ) Ryan of Greenwich, CT,. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, one great grandson, sister, Margaret ( Frank ) Canepa, brother-in-law Richard Gibson and daughter-in-law Helen Ryan. Jim was predeceased by his son Thomas,, granddaughter Merrick and sisters, Joan Gibson and Maura Lynch. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2pm - 4pm and 6pm - 9pm at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth. Visitation will continue in Queen's, New York at the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home, 91-05 Beech Channel Drive on Thursday from 2pm - 5pm and 7pm - 9pm. A funeral mass will be conducted on Friday. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery in Queen's.
