Passed away at Angela Hospice in Livonia on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at the age of 95. James was born in Rend City, Illinois the son of James O. and Mary Ruth ( nee McCarty ) Richardson on October 18, 1919. After graduating from high school Jim began working as a coal miner in 1936. In 1941 he married the former Evelyne E. Reinhardt in Bowling Green, Missouri. In June of 1942 he was inducted into the United States Army and served with the Wildcat Division, the 322nd Field Artillery Unit. This unit saw action in the Central Pacific campaigns and in the southern Philippines. At the time of his discharge he was a sergeant. From 1951 until 1983, when he retired, he worked for Sivyer Steel in Davenport, Iowa as a foundry worker. In 2000 the couple moved to Canton. Evelyne passed away in 2011. He is survived by his son Larry and wife Judy. Also surviving are his grandchildren Mark ( Eve ) Richardson and Heidi ( Doug ) Barrow along with great grandchildren Coltin and Nathan Richardson, James and Charles Barrow and step great grandchildren Audrey, Dana and David Warnez. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings William Richardson, Florence Helms, Martha Jelley and Mary Riemer. On Friday, December 26, 2014 at 10 am he will be accorded Military Honors at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
