James A. Wellman

James A. Wellman, age 89 of Plymouth, passed away on September 1, 2014. Born August 21, 1925 in Plymouth to parents Earl & Mildred Wellman. Graduated form Plymouth High School in 1943 and on June 19, 1943 would enlist in the United States Navy and serve during World War II. Returning home form the war James spent several years as the Twin Pines Milk Man in Plymouth. On June 12, 1982 James married his beloved Jennie (Bassett) and they shared a wonderful life together in Cocoa, Florida where he worked 25 years for the Turtle Creek Golf Club. In 2011 both would move back to Plymouth and on December 29, 2012, James would give his beloved Jennie back to the Lord. James is survived by his six loving children: Robert (Nola) Wellman, Alice (Don) Jordan, Daniel (Jennifer) Wellman, Amy (Glenn) Goodsmith, Jack Wellman and Arthur Wellman. Step father of Tamara (Richard) Smith and Timothy (Terri Lynn) Tallmadge. Proud grandfather of 13 and great grandfather of 4. Also survived by his former spouse and mother of his six children Dolores Guenther (Lee). Preceded in death by sister Ruth Kellar. James enjoyed golf, the Detroit Tigers, Red Wings and even played hockey until 1982 and even drove the Zamboni at the Plymouth Ice Rink. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 12:00pm with a visitation beginning at 11:00am until time of service at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home 280 South Main St, Plymouth. A graveside service with full military honors to follow at Riverside Cemetery. Memorials may be made to VFW Post 6695 1426 S Mill St, Plymouth, MI 48170.
