Jack McNeely (Edward J. McNeely), age 89 of Northville passed away on June 30, 2012. Loving husband of 60 years to Marie (O'Connor). Devoted father of Kathleen (Robert Gold) McNeely, Dennis (partner Sandra Koenig) McNeely, Sharon McNeely, Maureen (Robert) Turner, Edward J. McNeely III, Brigid McNeely, Kevin McNeely and Colleen Porter. Foster parent to Kevin Michael and Mary Catherine. Proud grandfather of 20 and great grandfather of 11. Dear brother in law of Mary McNeely Taylor and Shirley McNeely. Many loving cousins, nieces and nephews also survive. Preceded in death by his siblings or their spouses: Pat McNeely, Mary Helen (Nick) Rine, Jim (Marialyce) McNeely, Eilleen (Ed) King, and Bill McNeely. Jack grew up in Detroit, and proudly served our country in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a Professional Engineer, receiving his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Detroit. In 1961, he founded McNeely & Lincoln Associates, serving as City Engineer for both the City of Garden City and the City of Northville in addition to other clientele, until his retirement in 1989. Jack loved people, considering everyone family or friend. He was active in promoting literacy, and loved kids, travel, camping, swimming, nature, history, trivia, and tinkering on projects. His wit and sense of humor were second to none. Funeral service Friday, July 13, 2012 from the Church of the Holy Family 24505 Meadowbrook Rd, Novi, Jack will lie in state beginning at 10:30am until time of mass at 11:00am. Friends many visit the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home 280 South Main St, Plymouth on Thursday, July 12, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8pm. Interment Rural Hill Cemetery in Northville.
