Irene Gertrude Veresh of Northville, passed away July 21, 2019, just one day shy of her 86th birthday. She was born in Northville, to William and Martha (nee Heintz) Matthews. Irene was the beloved wife of 65 years to the late Edward Veresh, who died in 2016. Irene is survived by her two loving children David (Janice) Veresh and Kathy Veresh, her dear grandchildren Brad Toombs, Tim Veresh, Bethany (Dave) Harris, and Benjamin Veresh, and 7 great-grandchildren. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, both of her parents, her loving daughter Karen Veresh (2018), and her two sisters Elizabeth Allen and Jean Unger.
Irene met Edward when she was 16 and singing in the Church choir. After Irene graduated from Plymouth High School, they were married and shared 65 years together. Irene raised the children and when there was no transportation for her daughter Karen, she took action. It started with Irene driving Karen and a couple of her friends to school in Livonia and later turned into a 36 year career as a bus driver.
Irene was very involved with the Community Opportunity Center. She was a very kind and generous woman. Irene helped out many families throughout her life and did it anonymously because she didn’t want the recognition, she just wanted to help. Irene touched many lives and is truly going to be missed.
