Hubert B. Henegar, age 96, of Plymouth passed away at home surrounded by family on November 19, 2024.
Hugh was the beloved and devoted husband of 65 years to the late Jean (née Bailey) Henegar who passed away on December 20, 2015; loving father of Charles (Enes) Henegar, Patricia Wert and Karen (Michael) Appel; proud grandfather of Isaac (Kelly) Hillson, Derek Wert, Devon (Jessica) Henegar, Jennifer (Robert) Jarmusevich, Stefan Henegar, Stacey (Dan) Welker, Dawn Appel and great-grandfather of Callie, RJ, Ty, Vinnie, Meghan, Alyssa, Wesley, Zoe, Nicole, Cameron and Hayden. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his favorite niece Debra Mayes.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Kenneth Henegar, son Mark Henegar, son-in-law David Wert and his grandson Timothy Appel.
He was born in Monroe, Michigan on June 9, 1928 to his parents, the late Grace (née Tolbert) and Chester Henegar. Hugh graduated from the University of Toledo with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1952. He was immediately drafted into the U.S. Army where he served two years in Germany. He married Jean Bailey in 1950, while in service. Upon returning to the states, Hugh & Jean moved to Boston, Massachusetts where he earned his Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Hugh moved to Redford, MI in order to work for the Bendix Corporation. He raised his family there for 23 years, at which time Hugh & Jean moved to Livonia, MI for the next 39 years. He had resided with his daughter Patricia for the last 5 years.
Hugh will be remembered as a quiet, thoughtful and generous man. His favorite place to be was together with his family. He will be greatly missed!
Friends may visit at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth, Saturday, December 7, 2024 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 A.M. Hugh will be laid to rest at Glen Eden Memorial Park in Livonia.
