Helen S. Seaberg of Plymouth, Michigan died at the age of 94 at Angela Hospice on December 17, 2014 after a brief illness. Mrs. Seaberg was born August 21, 1920 in Peoria, IL to Edward J. Schlegel and Anna (Endres) Schlegel. She met her husband, Frederick E. Seaberg, Jr., whom she married in 1943, at Bradley Polytechnic Institute (now Bradley University). He predeceased her in 1983. She and her husband moved to Detroit in the 1950s and raised their family in Southeast Michigan. She is survived by her children John (Kim), Carl (Romnee Clark), Anna (Hollis Near) and Mary Seaberg King (Kenneth), her sister-in-law, two nieces, several cousins and many close friends. Mrs. Seaberg had a lifelong interest in the arts and passed on her love of music, ballet, modern art, mid-century modern design and the change in seasons to her children and others. Although not an educator by profession, she firmly believed in the power of reading to transform and improve lives. She was a longtime volunteer at the Detroit Institute of Arts and several libraries, including the Plymouth District Library. The family will receive friends from 11am to 2pm on Sunday, December 21, 2014, at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 S. Main St., Plymouth, Michigan. A memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in her honor to your favorite library, museum or educational institution.
