Helen Ortman

Helen Ortman age 94, of Colorado Springs and formerly of Plymouth, passed away on November 22, 2014. Born in Detroit to Alexander & Ludwica Polkowski on June 15, 1920. She attended Detroit Public schools until the age of 15 when she quit to care for her sister Mary Ortman who passed away in 1936. She fell in love with Benedict Ortman, Mary's widow and they married in 1937. Together they shared a marriage of 42 years, Benedict passing away in 1979. In 1947 the family moved to Plymouth where Helen worked at the former Mayflower Hotel. Helen is survived by her daughter Sandra Clark and is the proud grandmother of 12, great grandmother of 18 and great great grandmother of 3. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her daughter Mary Bugaski and granddaughter Carol Ann. Funeral service Monday, December 1, 2014 at 10:30am at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church 47650 North Territorial Rd, Plymouth. Mrs. Ortman will lie in state at church beginning at 10:00am until time of Mass. Friends may visit the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home 280 South Main St, Plymouth on Saturday from 6:00pm -8:00pm and on Sunday from 12:00pm-8:00pm with a Rosary service at 7:00pm. Interment St. Hedwig Cemetery.
