Helen Lois Nixon, of Livonia, Michigan passed away on April 6, 2017 at the age of 99. She was born on October 17, 1917 to John and Mary (nee Janda) Vincent. Helen is survived by her loving children Curtis (Laurie) Nixon Jr., Karen (William) Lane, Robert (Ellen) Nixon, Cindy (Alexander) Reid, Gary (Karen) Nixon, Sheryl Nixon, and Arlene (Robert) Peters, her precious grandchildren Zachary, Jerilynn, Moriah, Jenny, Kathryn, Michelle, Amy, Brian, Sarah, Samuel, and Curtis, her 7 great grandchildren, and her dear siblings Mary Ann, Lillian, and Henry. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Curtis Nixon, both of her parents, her siblings Edward, George, Alex, Robert, and John.
Helen attended Fordson High School, where she graduated in 1936. She served as postmaster of Eloise MI from March 1942 until December 1951. Helen married Curtis Nixon on February 3, 1945. They were blessed with 7 beautiful children. Helen and Curtis spent seven years building their own boat and then took a year long voyage from Grosse Ile, MI to the Bahamas and back with the entire family. She later enjoyed a 40 year career as a realtor for Century 21 Hartford South. Helen enjoyed traveling to Europe but loved going to Minsk (Belarus). She was a compassionate woman who was loved by many and will be truly missed.
Visitation for Helen will be Tuesday, April 11, from 2-8pm at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth, 48170. Her Funeral Service will be Wednesday, April 12, at 11am at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Cadillac Memorial Gardens West immediately following the service.
