Helen Long passed away at home with her family surrounding her on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at the age of 86. Joan, as she was always called, was born in Detroit the daughter of Rollin and Caroline ( nee Randig ) Boettcher. She did her schooling in Detroit and in 1960 married Theodore Long who preceded her in death in 1986. The family had resided in the Detroit and Plymouth areas. Joan enjoyed playing Bingo and visiting estate and yard sales. She had a deep love for her Detroit Tigers. But most of all it was her family that gave her great joy. She is survived by her children Caroline Wyatt, John ( Lisa ) Long, Robyn ( Kyle ) Winowiecki and Gerri Lynn ( Steve ) Voss. Eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren and her siblings Jeanne Finnigan and Glenn ( Sharon ) Boettcher also survive. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 15, 2014 from 1 pm until 9 pm at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth where funeral services will be conducted on Monday at 10 am with Father Thomas Belczak of St. Kenneth Catholic Church of Plymouth officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield. Contributions suggested to Angela Hospice.
