Passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at the age of 96. Helen was born in Memphis, Missouri on April 6, 1917 the daughter of Theodore and Eva ( Carpenter ) Riney. Helen's great enjoyment in life was quilting. After September 11th she made 18 king-size patriotic quilts. She was also a great cook and baker, her pies, the best. She established a cleaning business and cleaned many Plymouth municipal buildings including City Hall and the Cultural Center. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Albert Gerth and Taft Street. She is survived by her children William L. Gerth and Theodore " Fritz " ( Linda ) Gerth. Also surviving are her grandchildren Sandy ( Mark ) Sage, Stacey Dempsey, Sherry ( Bill ) Parks, Leslie Gerth, Jeremy ( Michelle ) Stover. Eleven great grandchildren Nick, Meghan, Kyle, Danielle, Melissa, Austin, Aaron, Preston, Kelly, Kayla and Jacob dear friend and neighbor Linda Frost. She was preceded in death by her four brothers. Visitation will be held at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth on Friday from 10 am until time of the funeral service at 1 pm. She will be laid to rest beside her first husband at Cadillac Memorial Gardens in Westland.
