Harold Richards passed away at Annapolis-Oakwood Hospital in Wayne on Monday, July 15, 2013 at the age of 84. Harold was born in Detroit on April 23, 1929 the son of Charley and Helen ( Falls ) Richards. He served with the United States Army in Korea during the conflict there. After his release from the Army he went to work with Atlantic Richfield Oil Company in Dearborn and later in Wilkes Barrie, PA where he ended his35 years of service as a terminal superintendent. In 1955 he married Betty J. Noble and together they shared a 58 year marriage. Harold was an avid gardener and yard man enjoying keeping his yard immaculate. His children said he was " born to mow." Other interests included woodworking and driving trucks and serving his church, St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran of Plymouth. He is survived by his wife Betty and daughter Susan ( John ) Curb. Also surviving are his grandchildren Christopher ( Andrea ) and Matthew Curd and great granddaughter, Natalie. Two brothers also survive. His daughter Deborah preceded him in death in 1993. Visitation will be held at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home on Friday from 4pm until 9pm. Visitation will continue at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church on Saturday from 10:30am until time of the funeral service at 11:30am. A committal service will be held on Monday at 1pm at Glen Eden Memorial Park where military honrs will be rendered. Memorials in memory of Harold Richards may be made to St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church or Hospice of Michigan.
