Germaine T. Wirth, age 97, passed away July 13, 2011, at home with family at her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Ernest A. Wirth. She is greatly loved and will be missed by her family, including her two sons, Richard (Mary) Wirth and Robert (fiancee Yolanda) Wirth. She is the dearest grandmother of Susan Wirth, Shannon (Rob) Dahl, Amy (David) Brown and James Wirth. Dear sister of Lucille Sessions and James Starr. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by 7 brothers and sisters.
Germaine was born in Lansing, MI, to Emmanuel and Rose (Phillips) Starr. She moved to Detroit in 1939, when she married Ernest. Germaine loved sewing, shopping and TV, especially QVC. She worked for 12 years as a bookkeeper for J.L.Hudson and taught cake decorating at Cooley High School in Detroit, and later in Allen Park. She loved her home and always said "don't give up your car." She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, spending most of her time caring for her family.
Friends may visit at Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 S. Main St., Plymouth, Thursday 5-9pm and Friday 2-9pm. Funeral services will take place Saturday, July 16, 2011, 10:30am at St. Thomas a'Becket Catholic Church, 555 South Lilley Rd., Canton, with visitation beginning at church at 10am. Private interment services will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery in Lansing, MI, where she will be buried next to her husband. Memorials may be made to Angela Hospice or in the form of Mass Offerings.
