Gary Ernest Messner

Gary Ernest Messner of Williamsburg passed away at his home on October 10, 2017. Gary was born on March 16, 1946 in Grosse Pointe Woods to the late Ernest and Gertrude (Schroeder) Messner.

In 1967, Gary married Virginia Wallace in Grosse Pointe Woods and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past January. For a number of years, Gary was a retail manager for Cunningham Drugs and Kay-Bee Toy Stores. He was an owner/operator of a Schlotzsky’s Deli from 1996 until 2003 when he retired. Gary enjoyed boating on Torch Lake, hunting in Escanaba, and spending time with family and friends.

Gary is survived by Virginia, his two sons, Bradley and David, daughter-in-law, Natalie, granddaughters, Olivia and Elise, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Carol.

A memorial gathering for friends and family will be held at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth on Monday, October 16th from 5:00 to 6:00 pm. A memorial service will immediately follow at 6:00 pm officiated by Pastor Drex Morton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
