Frederick William Fishback, of Plymouth, passed away November 26, 2016, at the age of 97. He was born in Wabash, Indiana, to Carl and Blanch (nee York) Fishback. Fred is survived by his loving sons, James (Linda) Fishback and David (Pamela) Fishback, his grandchildren, Courtney Lynne (Derick) Dahl, Ann Marie (John) Weibel, Laura Ann (Michael) Morrison, and Suzy Lynn (Teddy) Abesamis, and his great grandsons, Luke James Dahl and Liam Donald Dahl. Fred was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Eleanor Jane (nee Fisher), his second wife of 20 years, Leofa (nee Sutherland), his parents, Carl and Blanch Fishback, and his brother, Robert York Fishback.
Fred graduated from Peru (Indiana) High School in 1938. He was inducted into the Army Air Force in 1942 and served in Alaska in the Aleutian Islands. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant and, in June 1945, married Eleanor Fisher in Mill Valley, California. He graduated from International College in Fort Wayne, Indiana, with a degree in accounting. Fred began his business career working for 15 years for the Studebaker Corporation in South Bend, Indiana. He then worked the next 20 years for Chrysler Corporation in Detroit, retiring in 1986. Following the death of his first wife, Fred married Leofa Sutherland in August 1987. Fred was a man of great Christian Faith. He was an inspirational father, grandfather, and great grandfather, living his Faith every day. Fred was a very optimistic person with a kind spirit. No matter what trials life presented to him, he never saw negatives in other people. Fred was a generous, loving, and considerate man, and he will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be Friday, December 2, from 2-8 pm at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 S. Main Street, Plymouth, MI 48170. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 3, at 11 am at the funeral home, with visitation beginning at 10 am. Family and friends will be invited to a luncheon after the service. Frederick will be interred at Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens in Novi, Michigan.
