Fred was born in Detroit on October 8, 1926 the son of Mike and Latefie (Boganin) Mullen. He served in the United States Army in the Pacific Theater of Operations during the later part of World War II and also with the Occupational Army in Japan. For over 25 years he owned and operated a grocery store in northwest Detroit. In 1973 he became a State and then a Federal Meat Inspector. The Mullen's have resided in the Plymouth area for over 30 years and Fred was quite active in his church, Northville Christian Assembly. He is survived by his beloved wife Laura and in May of this year they would have been married for 60 years. Together Fred and Laura have four children, Ernest (Dawn) Mullen, Michele (Robert) Griglak, Luann (Tom Ingraham) Mullen and Robert (and his fiance Jessica) Eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive along with his sister Adele Belanger. Visitation will be held at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home on Tuesday from 1pm until 9pm. Funeral services will follow on Wednesday at 11am.
