Ethel Irene Eckles of Northville and formerly of Plymouth, died Tuesday, June 5, 2018. She was 97 years old. She was born on December 21, 1920 to William and Hulda (nee Esch) Ash in their family home in Livonia. Ethel was the beloved wife of the late Douglas Eckles who died in 1970. Ethel was also the loving mother to Diane Wavrek, Susan (the late Robert) Larkins, LuAnn Eckles, and the late Janis (William) Krug. She is also survived by five cherished grandchildren Christina Larkins, Douglas (Kimberly) Krug, Jennifer (Garret) Pickard, Michael Krug, and Michelle Larkins, and four precious great grandchildren Madelynn, Easton, Wylder, and Alexander.
After graduating High School, Ethel worked for Burroughs Corp. Ethel and Douglas were married in 1946. She then became a homemaker raising her four beloved daughters. Ethel deeply loved her family. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, and crocheting. Her specialty was crocheting afghans for her family and friends. Ethel was also a faithful woman and a lifetime member of St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Visitation will be Monday, June 11, from 5-8:00 pm at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 S. Main St., Plymouth, Michigan 48170. Her Funeral Service will be Tuesday, at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, 6520 N. Andrews Ave., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309.
