Else Woerner of Plymouth, formerly of Bloomfield Hills, died peacefully on Feb. 6, 2017 at the age of 89. Beloved wife of the late Walter K. Woerner, to whom she was happily married for 61 years. Cherished daughter of the late Friedrich and Berthe Schaub of Karlsruhe, Germany, sister of Sigrid and Walter Armbruster of Gernsbach, Germany, sister-in-law of Anita Woerner of Germany, and treasured aunt and great-aunt to many. Beloved cousin of Elfriede and the late Ernst Koehler of Park Ridge, New Jersey, of Joanne, Jerome, Steve and Andrew Miano of Hillsdale, New Jersey, of Richard and Linda Henselman of St. Michael’s, Maryland and of Paul, Kathi and Anna West of Canton, Michigan.
Else is fondly remembered by staff, residents and aides at Independence Village of Plymouth for her sweet disposition. Else was born in Karlsruhe, Germany in 1927 and met her future husband Walter while working together in a local bank. They married in 1949 and in the 1950s, emigrated to Guelph, Ontario before settling in Detroit. Else was a kind and gentle soul who loved animals, especially her two beloved dogs, Tanni and Chu-Chu. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
Family members will receive guests at a Memorial Service at Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 S. Main Street, Plymouth, on February 19, at 3 p.m., with visitation beginning at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Plymouth Community United Way, or the Lutheran World Relief. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
