Elizabeth J. Keith, age 95 of Plymouth, passed away on March 13, 2019. Elizabeth was born in Lochgelly Fifeshire, Scotland on June 20, 1923 to her parents, Andrew and Euphemia (nee Forrester) Dewar.
She is the beloved wife of the late Donald C. Keith; devoted mother of two children, Susan (Dave) Jones and Donald A. Keith; proud grandmother of Megan (Brendon) Weil, Kevin Jones (Kendra) and Jamie Ann Jones and great-grandmother of Mason Weil, Alexa Weil, Skylar Weil, Gavin Givens-Jones and Stella Givens-Jones.
Bea (as she was known to so many) was proud to be a stay-at-home mom. She re-entered the workforce after moving to Plymouth from Detroit in 1977, working for Adistra Corporation. Retiring in 1983 with an open heart for service, she volunteered her time to various causes including her church, First Presbyterian of Plymouth, The Red Cross, Herman Gardens tutoring, and knitting and sewing various projects for nursing homes and hospitals. When not volunteering, she enjoyed spending time with her many good friends while road-tripping, taking exercise classes, basket weaving and craft classes and last, but not least, to say she was an avid bowler was an understatement! She loved every weekly opportunity with her teammates to throw that ball and strike again!!
Elizabeth had a very special and unique bond with each of her grandchildren. The ties that bind a grandparent to their grandchildren is almost magical and the memories made with Elizabeth will be some of their fondest in continuing to shape them into better adults and parents today. Reading to each of her grandchildren also cultivated a special bond, but Elizabeth went above and beyond. She worked tirelessly with her special needs granddaughter, Jamie – not only in reading TO her but, she spent countless hours and used every opportunity available with Jamie in TEACHING her to read. She gave her a gift that will keep on giving the rest of her life.
The family wishes to express sincere appreciation and thanks to those staff members at Addington Place Memory Care in Northville and a special appreciation and personal thank you to her home-caregivers, Sandy McCaffery, Roxan Dennis and Bonnie Sheridan who provided so many extra hours to provide Elizabeth the loving care she needed to pass away from this life with comfort and dignity.
Elizabeth is deeply loved, by all of her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all whose life was touched by her.
Family and friends may visit on Saturday, March 16th from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the 4:00 P.M. funeral service at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth.
